Secrets Playa Blanca

At the time of writing, Secrets Playa Blanca is my favorite adults-only resort in Cancun. I love photographing here because of its beautiful gardens, elegant walkways, modern architecture, and stunning white sand beach. With so many different locations throughout the resort, you'll have a wide variety of backdrops to choose from, and we can almost always find beautiful light for your photographs without ever leaving the property.

Secrets Playa Blanca delivers the kind of experience most couples hope for when planning a luxury destination wedding. The rooms are beautifully designed, the service is exceptional, the restaurants are consistently excellent, and the spa and fitness facilities are among the best in the area. If you're looking for an adults-only resort where you and your guests can relax and enjoy every part of the wedding week, I think you'll love what Secrets Playa Blanca has to offer.

Why Couples Love Secrets Playa Blanca

My Favorite Photo Locations

I enjoy photographing at Secrets Playa Blanca because of the variety of locations throughout the resort. The meandering walkways, beautiful gardens, modern architecture, and elegant staircase near the lobby make it easy to create a diverse collection of photographs. The beach offers the classic white sand and turquoise Caribbean backdrop, while the variety of locations means we can almost always find beautiful light for your photographs.

Wedding Photography Tips

With so many great locations throughout the resort, I recommend allowing an hour for your couple's portraits. Giving yourself that extra time also means you'll have time to walk through the resort, not feel rushed and get photographs you will truly love.

Questions couples could ask:

My favourite ceremony location near the convention centre. It's away from the rest of the resort, giving you more privacy, and the light is beautiful. It's a fantastic location for both your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.

What are the best ceremony locations at Secrets Playa Blanca?

Pricing and Availability

If possible, I recommend scheduling your ceremony about 2 hours before sunset. That gives you plenty of time for a photo of everyone at the wedding, family photos, photos with the bridal party and couples' portraits. With such a beautiful resort, having that at least an hour allows you to all the photographs you want and not feel rushed. (Well, assuming I photograph your wedding, because other less experienced photographers might take more time.)

What is the best time to schedule our ceremony?

You're going to love it. Secrets Playa Blanca has quickly become one of my favourite resorts in Cancun, and I think you and your guests will have an incredible experience. You'll probably find yourselves spending most evenings at the Rendezvous Bar right in the middle of the resort—it's a great place to relax, have a drink, and hang with family and friends.

What should couples know before getting married at Secrets Playa Blanca?

I recommend planning for at least an hour and a half between the end of your ceremony and sunset. For example, if sunset is at 7:00 pm, a 5:00 pm ceremony works well. That gives you approximately 30 minutes for the ceremony, 30 minutes for family photographs, 15–30 minutes with your bridal party, and the remaining time for couple's portraits around the resort. At Dreams Playa Mujeres, the sun sets behind the resort, so once it's below the buildings, the best natural light is gone. Planning enough time before sunset lets us make the most of the beach, gardens, and architecture while keeping the day relaxed.

How much time should we allow for photographs?

One thing I like about Secrets Playa Blanca is the covered walkways around the convention center. They work well for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and even receptions if the weather doesn't cooperate. No backup plan is perfect, but I like the options at Secrets Playa Blanca more than at many other resorts. That said, I wouldn't spend too much time thinking about the rain so you don't manifest something you don't want.
